Departure

“I’ll take him to a better hospital after he’s back.
He’ll be with us and hopefully right back on track.”
Two flights and four sleepless nights in May,
came the son, hastily, to his dismay.

Pale faces stare through desolate eyes
onto the body of the beloved, as cold as ice.
“I couldn’t even say goodbye.”, he cried.
Tears streamed down his face; not once tried to hide.

A doctor and father, with immense will power and might,
lifted mountains just to see his children’s delight.
Showed strength in his final days just like a lion does with his mane.
Goodbye, grandpa, forever in us you shall remain.
